A Glimpse into records of Team – AMMOC
Scholarly protege Tisya Rawat won Sir Issac Newton Physics Olympiad of the University of Waterloo with a world rank of 142. She is a freshman, with full scholarship, majoring in mathematics at the CALTECH, USA.
Medha Shrivastava won Avagadro Chemistry contest of University of Waterloo.
We believe, and practice the thought of our mathematical hero Vladimir Igorevich Arnold – ” Mathematics is that part of Physics where experiments are cheap”. We have regular Physics and Chemistry seminars delivered by Yaashaa Golovanov. However, it is available only to those kids who do really well in our mathematics program because we do more of an elementary mathematical physics. And if child does well in both Physics and Mathematics then she or he is given opportunities to take Chemistry segment.
Our pupil have won prestigious science Olympiads like
- Sir Isaac Newton Physics Olympiad of University of Waterloo.
- F = ma, most well known American contest of Physics. Top 400 students from this contests are chosen for USA Physics Team (USAPhO) exam. The cutoff for F = ma exam is generally around 20.
- Indian National Science Examination for Junior Sciences of HBCSE (TFIR, India).
- Avagadro Chemistry Olympiad of University of Waterloo.
- International Science Olympiad of South East Asia.
Resources for Physics & Chemistry Contests
- University Physics textbook written by Physicists Hugh Young & Roger Freedman. The first edition of this classic introductory masterpiece was published by Mark Zemansky & Francis Sears in 1949. University Physics is among the most widely used introductory textbooks in the world.
- Principles of Physics by Halliday, Resnick & Walker. The American Physical Society named the work the most outstanding introductory physics text of the 20th century. This is fantastic for theory and an advanced revision of this book in style of Olympiad is Halliday, Resnick and Krane. Prof. Krane is also involved in preparing USAPhO National team.
- Textbooks written by David Morin, a Professor of Physics at Harvard University
- Introduction to Mechanics, written by two physicist at MIT, is standard text for F = ma contest.
- Berkley Course on Physics – a collective volumes of introductory undergraduate level courses on Physics. We thoroughly do Electricity and Magnetism segment of this collection.
- How to Become a good Theoretical Physicists by Noble Prize Winning Dutch Physicist Gerardus ‘t Hooft. He shared the 1999 Nobel Prize in Physics with his thesis advisor Martinus J. G. Veltman “for elucidating the quantum structure of electroweak interactions”.
- Chemical Principles by Steven S. Zumdahl, and Donald J. DeCoste both are eminent chemist at University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.
